Prof. Dr. Edoardo Anderheggen

Edoardo Anderheggen has been Professor of Computational Methods in Engineering since 1976, first at the Institute of Computer Science then at the Institute of Structural Engineering of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. His main research areas are computational mechanics and software development for linear and nonlinear structural applications using the Finite Element Method.

Dipl. Bau-. Ing. Claudia Pedron

Claudia Pedron studied Civil Engineering at the University of Trento, Italy. There she was awarded – as one of only two students selected over all Italy – a grant for writing her Thesis at the ETH Zurich. This she did in the winter semester 2000/2001 under the supervision of Professor Anderheggen.

Shortly after finishing her studies in Trento, she was employed as a teaching assistant and Ph.D. student by Professor Anderheggen at the Institute of Structural Engineering. Within the framework of her Ph.D. work she defined the functionality and developed the main parts of both the EasyStatics program and the related learning platform.

Dr. Patrick Steffen

Patrick Steffen received a diploma in civil engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich in 1991. He was a Ph.D. student of Professor Anderheggen at the Institute of Structural Engineering, where he wrote a doctoral thesis in computation mechanics. In 1997 and 1998 he was a lecturer at the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Austin (USA).
Today he is a Member of the board of directors of Cubus Software AG in Zürich (Switzerland), a company specialized in the developement of software solutions for civil engineers. As a lecturer at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering at ETH Zürich he is still active in
research and education.
